The Diary of an Unpublished Author #9: Published at Last!

TMOF twitter out now

If you’ve been following my blog with any interest at all over the past few years, you might have noted that I have written a book. You might also have noted through The Diary of an Unpublished Author series, that I’ve had very little luck with literary agents and prospective publishers in publishing said book.

After a fair amount of thought and deliberation, I decided that the most important thing to me was to have my book out there in the real world – for people to read and share and hopefully enjoy.

And so I can finally reveal what I’ve been working on over the past couple of months: self-publishing. It’s with the greatest pleasure that I can say that my debut novel, The Matter of Faith is finally available to download on Amazon!

Five years in the making, countless drafts, tens of rejection letters, and the unfaltering belief that my book is is interesting and important and worthy of being read, and I’m so happy that my words are finally out there in the real world.

I’ll put the blurb below:

The debut novel from Bethany Wren, The Matter of Faith is the first in a compelling and provocative trilogy set in a future where religion has died out.

Or has it?

Toby has grown up in a world where religion is obsolete. The only thing they worship is technology, and the nearest thing they have to a god is science.

But now he’s being torn away from everything he knows and forced by his uncle onto a secret government mission to make contact with an isolated group of people who still Believe.

Maria is a Believer living under the rule of her enigmatic leader, the Mastor, and having to make a decision that will change her life forever. But as her and Toby meet, they discover that there is much to learn in the other. Together they find themselves fighting in a war in which they can never be sure whose side they are on.

The concepts of god and good, religion and reality collide to ensure that nothing will ever be the same again.

So if you fancy reading my book, I’d be over the moon if you could download it and leave a review on Amazon.

It even has its own website: www.thematteroffaith.com and its own Twitter account: https://twitter.com/TMOFbook which you can follow for updates.

A big shout-out to my family for encouraging me to pursue the self-publishing route, and to my boyfriend for creating the wonderful front cover and website.

Happy reading and let me know what you think!

Yours,

Beth
