Poetry Corner | Poem #18: Take Me to the Mountains

Mountains

Because I only feel at home when I can see, and feel, just how small I really am. Everyone needs to go and stand in the shadows of the mountains every once in a while and breathe.

It does wonders to your perspective.

Hi Beth, Is this your poem? If so would you mind if I print it along with your name on a few mugs I am designing and printing for my handmade market?

This is absolutely beautiful. It sums up my feelings about the mountains just perfectly. I would like to include it on a label to go on the back of a mountain quilt I just finished.

    Beth,
As part of a ‘Let’s Make Art Matter’ project, I am sending a postcard to a woman in an assisted living facility on the front range in CO. She lived in the mountains until that became impossible. May I use your poem on the cover of the postcard?

      Yes Stephanie – please do!

Hi, Beth. I found this sweet little poem just now while looking for a “B section” for my 2nd grade music students. We are learning the folk song “Rocky Mountain” and I believe your text will make for a lovely improvisation. The rhythm is perfect and the text simple enough for the kids to be able to relate. I hope you don’t mind.

Hi Valerie, that sounds lovely – I don’t mind at all!

    Dear Beth,
I am writing a children’s story for my Dad’s 85th birthday, based on a series of characters he used to tell us stories about when we were small. The story is set in the Snowdonia Mountains, please may I use your exquisite poem at the start of one of the chapters? Many thanks
